DERELICT TO DESIRABLE – Francis Road, Acocks Green

A DERELICT and disused site, once home only to an old industrial garage, has been transformed into desirable homes for people in housing need.

The development of 12 houses in two blocks, at Francis Road in Acocks Green is now happily occupied by tenants of Waterloo Housing Association.

The site, which borders Birmingham’s Grand Union Canal on one side, was an interesting and challenging one to work on, says Greswolde’s Jason Taplin.

“It was a very narrow and tight site to develop, given its location adjoining the canal and at the end of a residential street,” he reports.  “But the work has added a turning space to the street and greatly improved this redundant site.”
